Hopeful Shopping

Tucked back in a pretty little corner behind the Market at Circa 1857 in Baton Rouge, stands a cozy white cottage with a sign reading, The Hope Shop. That simple word ‘Hope’ made us want to find out more. So, we ventured inside and oh did our hearts swoon. The beautifully ethereal shop is comprised entirely of unique, Fair-trade products from around the world. Sacrificing none of the quality or style you might expect, the shop delivers precious gifts, toys, art and all kinds of little trinkets you didn’t know you needed! You can shop by category or even by the cause that speaks to you most!

Becca, the owner of The Hope Shop created the brick and mortar location to support her non profit, Hands Producing Hope. Each group of Fair-trade artisans she works with in Costa Rica, Rwanda and Baton Rouge are trained by her team to create products while earning a living wage. The program also provides artisans with adult literacy classes and a maternal health program. Additionally, workshops are hosted several times a year to teach valuable life skills. Now that’s hopeful!

Here’s what we love for everyday:

1) Reusable razor

2) Small tote

3) Wall hanging textile

Here’s how we’d play it Carnival style:

1) Try these reusable bags to hold your throws

2) Add some flair to your parade wear with green tassel earrings

3) Grab a few crayon boxes as specialty throws
